The Collarworld review bomb

In 2020, after several years of serializing my fictional pets-in-the-afterlife series Collarworld, I converted the episodes into a bound volume and offered it for purchase on Amazon. The reviews were positive. Very positive, in fact. 

Except for one.

And let me explain.

This was in 2020, and the country was in the midst of a heated political climate. At the time, one local figure decided she would run for public office. Her platforms were extremely cruel and vicious – the whole “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” screed, for example. Oh, and that you could cure COVID-19 with sheep drench or horse dewormer or some other quackery.

I got tired of seeing her crapola on social media. So I called her out on it.

That’s when one of her supporters – someone using the moniker RXBluejay – started attacking me online. He made very serious threats against me – as well as suggesting that because I disagreed with that candidate, then for sure I must be a child molester. Yeah. That kind of crapola.

Then this MAGA maggot chud-brain decided to go one step further. Apparently a year later, he still held a deep hatred and animus towards me. So what did he do about it? He went and posted a one-star review of Collarworld on Amazon.

I should note that RXBluejay has written a whopping FOUR reviews on Amazon. Two of them were way back in 2009; the third one was for an ice maker in 2022. So he decided, hey, let’s toss a one-star review at Chuck Miller’s book! That’ll show him!! That’ll own that lib!!!

Jackass. 

After trying everything I could to alert Amazon about this review, I finally discovered there was a way to report bullshit reviews on the site, and I did so.

This morning, I checked my listing for the page – and that bonkbrain’s review was removed from the site. 

Good.

I get it. Things get review-bombed for the stupidest reasons. You don’t like the idea that a black woman can direct a Marvel movie? Get all your friends to give The Marvels 1-star reviews. Oaf. You don’t like that someone in the LGBTQIA+ community appears on an episode of a TV series? Bring out the keyboard warriors.

And it reminds me of something that happened in my past, back when I blogged in the Times Union blogfarm.

But the TL;DR version is that someone who USED to be a friend of mine decided to fuck with me by using my real name as a Reddit account; next thing I know, fake “Chuck Miller” is trolling various subreddits with vile, putried posts. The final step was when this asshole posted as me in the r/gonewild subreddit – a NSFW locale – and linked to my TU blog to claim it was me. 

Trust me, when you have to contact u/hueypriest – the second-in-command to Reddit – to get this shit removed and that account banned – that’s how vile that person’s actions were. 

If you don’t like me, I get it. I’m not the most popular person out there. But thinking that your horseshit reviews and keyboard courage attacks will justify your actions makes you less of an adult and more of an immature bonkbrain – that’s on you. 

Go kick rocks. And I hope you stub your toe while you do so.
